Schools Serving St. Anne's Hill
To any family contemplating city living, the quality of area schools
is a priority. Fortunately for residents of St. Anne's Hill there are many excellent
private and public schools serving the area, ranging from daycare facilities to
Stivers School for the Arts is adjacent to St. Anne's Hill. Teaching
grades 7 through 12 and specializing in performing and visual arts. Stivers has
recently undergone an extensive $40 million renovation and expansion and is now on the National Register
of Historic Places. Stivers is nationally recognized as a top magnet school.
Ruskin Elementary School, just south of St. Anne's Hill, was recently rebuilt and is a
completely modern facility. According to their site, a unique partnership among Dayton Public Schools, East End Community Services (East End) and the University of Dayton was formed. The result is the Ruskin Pre K – 8 Neighborhood School. Ruskin is a site-based managed school that has a strong emphasis on sharing facilities and resources with the community. In addition, as a neighborhood school center, East End provides additional services for families and after school services for students.
Downtown Dayton offers even more choices. The Mini-Univerity offers top-quality child care for infants and toddlers. The Downtown Dayton YMCA offers child care services designed to meet the
developmental needs of young children ages 6 weeks to 6th grade.
Dayton is also home to several private schools. The Lutheran School of the Miami Valley, an elementary school
offering all day Kindergarten through sixth grade, is located at St. Paul's Lutheran
Church in the Oregon Historic District, just three blocks west of St. Anne's Hill. Chaminade-Julienne High School, a National School of Excellence, is
an example of the many Catholic schools of the area located conveniently downtown. Other
schools include Holy Family on 5th Street, Holy Angels on Brown Street and St.
Anthony's on St. Charles Avenue.
Dayton is known for a strong charter school environment as well. Emerson Academy of Dayton is a charter school in the neighboring historic district of
South Park and the ISUS Institute Of Construction Technology and Manufacturing is close by on
St. Anne's Hill's central location makes traveling to area colleges
and universities easy. Sinclair Community College in downtown Dayton is within 1 mile, the
University of Dayton is less than 3 miles away and Wright State University is about 6
miles to the east. Antioch College in Yellow Springs and Central State University near
Xenia are only a 15 mile commute with easy access from Route 35.
